What are physical exams?

Physical exams are medical evaluations that allow your provider to evaluate your overall health and well-being or the ability to receive a green card or citizenship status. Physicals may be needed for you to attend school, play sports, or safely complete your required job duties.

Which physical exams are available?

Clinica Medica Hispana offers the following physical exams:

School physicals

Your provider offers school physicals if your child needs one before attending school. Their provider signs the appropriate school physical forms.

Sports physicals

Many school-sponsored sports teams require a sports physical before you or your child can participate in training and games.

Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals

DOT physicals allow you to receive and maintain a commercial driver’s license and meet the health requirements needed to safely complete certain job duties.

Immigration physicals

Clinica Medica Hispana has an approved civil surgeon to complete immigration I-693 exams. An immigration physical may allow you to receive citizenship status or a green card.

What happens during physical exams?

What to expect during a physical exam depends on the type you require, your age, and your medical history.

Vital signs check

Your provider weighs you, calculates your body mass index (BMI), and checks your blood pressure and other vital signs. 

Medical history review and physical

They discuss your symptoms, medical history, medications, lifestyle habits, and more. Your specialist then completes a physical exam to look for signs of medical problems.

Diagnostic tests

Diagnostic tests you may need include blood testing, urine tests, drug tests, vision and hearing screenings, or heart function testing.

Treatment

If you need an immunization or treatment for a medical condition, Clinica Medica Hispana offers such services to help you pass your physical. If you need care from another specialist, your primary care provider offers referrals. 

Physical form completion

After you pass a physical exam, your specialist fills out the required physical forms and gives you a copy for your records.

How often should I schedule physical exams?

Schedule an annual physical exam to evaluate your health and well-being, or anytime you need a work, sports, school, or another type of physical. You might need a physical yearly, every two years, or as needed based on your unique situation.
